Using PEX instead of copper or galvanized piping can save you time and money.
There many ways you benefit in using PEX pipe, being that it is flexible it's easier to direct the routing of the pipes saving you from spending time connecting joints and using less fittings. Being that PEX pipe is a type of plastic pipe it is also more cost efficient and will last longer against corrosion then the metal pipes copper or galvanized. You can also transition from copper or galvanized pipe to PEX pipe by just using a special type of adapter typically found at your local plumbing store.
NOTE: There are two types of PEX pipe PEX-A and PEX-B. PEX-A is the most flexible, allowing for it to be fastened by cold expansion using a tool specifically for the pipe. PEX B is not expandable and uses an insert-style fitting. After inserting the fitting into the pipe, you fasten it in place with a copper sleeve, using the crimp tool
